Aleta Slater, M.A.

Professor, Family and Consumer Sciences

Aleta Slater is an experienced teacher and administrator at both the elementary and early childhood levels. She taught kindergarten through second grade at the elementary level for many years before becoming an elementary principal in the Northwest. Her keen interest and passion for early childhood led her to found and direct two different church-related preschools during her career. She returned to her alma mater to become site director of the Early Childhood Learning Center, PLNU’s campus preschool, in 2003. Since her retirement, she has continued as adjunct professor in the field of early childhood education for the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. She has presented workshops for local preschools and regional early childhood groups, and at CAEYC state conventions with her colleague and department chair, Susan Rogers. She is an avid reader of professional literature and is passionate about helping students achieve the best in developmental early childhood professional practice.
